Producing some absolute ripper cocktail liqueurs that all sit within the required staples of any bar, this 4 person power team is injecting some local flavour into some old favourites and we couldn’t be more delighted to be stocking a couple of their winners - Dry Cassis and Curaçao.
Creating classic liqueurs from Australian fruit is the backbone of the Marionette philosophy and this has been carefully put into practice through the development of relationships with a handful of dedicated Aussie farmers. From blackberries sourced from Tasmania’s Derwent Valley to oranges coming from the famed Mildura region, Marionette has carved a tidy niche by recognising that an overwhelming amount of liqueurs and spirits are coming into Australia from overseas, and have taken a firm hold of the opportunity to create and distribute local products in their place.
Distilling in their spare time, Shaun Byrne, Nick Tesar and Hugh Leech are all firmly cemented players in Australia’s hospitality scene and bring a massive amount of experience to their fledgling business. With Lauren Bonkowski stepping in to fill the marketing and design side of things, this entrepreneurial team is slowly redefining the process of ordering for any bar shelf - and the Aussie cocktail scene is sitting up and taking notice.
Trends in the mixology world at the moment are centered around buzzwords like ‘infusing’ and ‘aromatics’ and Marionette has cleverly grabbed hold of this and created serious excitement with their ambitious plan to churn out 20 cocktail staples in the next 3 years.
